Air India Modern School
Air India Modern School was established in 1958 by the Air India Staff Colony Association with the vision of providing quality, affordable education to the children of Air India employees and the surrounding community. The school earned official recognition in 1962, with the Primary section receiving aid from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Secondary section supported by the Government of Maharashtra.

In addition, the school operates a self-financed Pre-Primary section, which is efficiently managed by the Air India Staff Colony Association.
​
A significant milestone was reached in 1971-1972 when the first batch of students appeared for the SSC examinations, achieving outstanding results and setting a strong academic legacy for future generations.
​
Admission to Junior and Senior Kindergarten is open to all, with no caste-based eligibility criteria.
​​​
The school takes pride in offering high-quality education and excellent facilities without accepting any donations or financial aid from Air India or the State Government.

Our Journey
Founded in 1958 by the Air India Staff Colony Association, the school was established with a commitment to provide quality education to the children of its members and the neighbourhood community.
In 1962, we received formal recognition, with the Primary Section aided by the BMC and the Secondary Section by the Government of Maharashtra, while the Pre-Primary Section is self-financed and managed by the School Managing Committee under the Maharashtra Charitable Trust.
1971-1972 marked a proud milestone when our first batch of SSC students graduated with outstanding results.
In 1974, we expanded by establishing a dedicated Science Library and Staff Room, cultivating a strong reading culture. Today, our library houses over 5,000 books, helping students excel in inter-school competitions.

In 1985, the Government of Maharashtra awarded our Secondary Section the Best School Award, and our students consistently excelled in science exhibitions across various levels.
In 2000-2001, our Primary Section was honoured by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation for academic excellence.

In the year of 1998 our school won the "Best School Award" in Scouts & Guides.

Over the decades, Air India Modern School has built a legacy of nurturing not just scholars but leaders. Our students have gone on to become Doctors, Engineers, Scientists, Pilots, and Successful Entrepreneurs. We take immense pride in alumni such as:

We are proud to have had Mr. Mark Paterson, one of the finest goalkeepers in the history of the Indian Hockey Team, as a student of our school.

More recently, our student Mst. Sunny Pawar, at just 8 years old, gained international recognition after being cast in the Hollywood film “LION.” The film was nominated for several Oscar Awards, and Sunny himself was honoured at the White House. He has since gone on to act in several other Hollywood productions.
